PRESS RELEASE

“Atheists Invade Denver” Billboard

In July 2012, the Boulder Atheists and other members of the Colorado Coalition of Reason (COCORE) posted the following billboard in downtown Denver announcing the Atheist Alliance of America 2012 National Convention which will be held in Denver during Labor Day weekend.

This billboard parodies the suspicion many people have toward the individuals who describe themselves as atheists. It also parodies the environment of fear that increasingly dominates the social and political dialog in the United States: the fear of the unknown, the fear of differences, the fear of upheaval and disruption of social order, the fear that the World is ending. The billboard is also a way of letting interested individuals know about an event where they can hear more about secularism, humatistic values, and atheist groups. The Convention runs from August 30 to September 3, 2012 and will include speakers, discussion panels, and entertainment. Find out more at the Atheist Alliance of America website where you can also register to attend this 3-and-a-half-day event.
